Megan Dooner - Owner and CEO

Meet Megan Dooner, Owner

I grew up on a horse farm with Dad’s “little garden” in the backyard. All that land, and we had this small spot where he grew an abundance of cherry tomatoes, green beans, zucchini, cucumbers and the odd little plant from the garden center that he thought he’d “give a try”. Nothing tasted as good as those freshly harvested foods.

Fast forward through my college years and serving our country as a Naval Officer, I found myself once again with a small space that had room to grow…literally. My husband and I dabbled as most first-time gardeners do, but became frustrated by less than perfect results.

Yet, the love for plants never fades. When we lived in Jacksonville, Florida I worked at a garden center, where I learned a wealth of knowledge about plants and how to help them thrive. After 15 years of growing herbs, veggies, and flowers, up and down the East Coast, I brought my experience to the Rio Grande Valley, eager to help others succeed in their own gardens.

I want to help bring the Valley’s passion for food back to its roots and build confidence in each person that they can cultivate the very things that God has given us to not only live but to truly thrive.

Welcome, to Life Giving Gardens.
